Has any tried using a SuperDish in place of a Dish 1K for better 129 performance?

Has anyone tried using a SuperDish in place of a Dish 1K for better 129 performance?

With the poor performance of 129 on the Dish 1K I was wondering if anyone has tried using the large SuperDish instead.

There should be some gain due to its larger size just not sure how much.

Cheers-

Could work if you modified the LNBF bracket. The super dish only come in 105 and 121 flavors and the 121 would be the closest, but the 121 is still 8 degrees from from the 129 so the bracket would need to be altered! How? I dunno.

Hi,

I added 129 onto my 121 Superdish and I get almost as good of a signal on 129 as I get on 119. The extra LNB is just tied on with wire ties for now. I will build a proper mounting bracket when it warms up. I am in Wisconsin if that makes any difference. Check out the thread below for more info on adding 129 to a Superdish...

The 121 LNB will NOT work for 129. It's the wrong type.

However, you could point the 119 LNB of the 121 SD to 129 and get good results.

I dont mean using the SuperDish LNB's but as I said using the SuperDish. Will the bracket from a D1k (W bracket) work on the SD arm or at least can it be rigged too?

nah. If you are going to use the SD for 110/119/129/whatever FSS side you have, just slap the LNB to the side of the 119 or 121 and use a hoseclamp

I have the SD121 setup with a zip tied 129 lnb like Bruce mentioned above. Works great with an 80+ signal on 129 and around 100 on 110/119.
