How would a 8' dish with Geosat SL1P compare with 1.2m dish?

A carefully put together and carefully aimed 8' C-band dish will just about be the same as a 1.2m offset KU dish, when used for KU with that particular lnbf. That depends on some things.

Personally, if you want KU, the 1.2m dish with a proper ku lnbf for an offset dish is a better way to go.

I guess it depends on what dish your talking about, a 8 foot DH/CM dish will wipe the floor with any 1.2 dish in C/KU, please state what dish's you want to compare.

I can get free 8' mesh dish I thought it
Would make good ku dish with the geosat lnb I don't know what make the dish is but it's in good cond

If that's the case Mike has given good advice in post 2,

Personally if its free i would get it and stick this LNB on it and see what you can get,

The above lnb is far from the best performer but it will give you some C and KU band channels good luck please keep us posted if you collect it.
