Have one account for 2 locations?

Is this possible? A "Official" dish rep came to our buisness and said we could add a receiver to the account and that we would be able to have the same progrmamming that we have at home at the buisness. I am sure this is possible, but legal I don't think so. Can some one clear this up as my wife says that it is possible beacause the guy is from "dish". He should be saying the truth.

I honestly think that he is an installer, beacuase she says that he had both Dish and Directv stickers on the van.

It's possible but a violation of Dish Network terms of use. If it were a vacation home that would be different. I guess if you are going to take the receiver from your house everyday and use it at your business there wouldn't be a violation.

But you can't have a receiver at each location. If you get audited you will lose the use of one of those receivers.

If the installer has both Dish and DirectTV stickers on his van, then he is an independent contractor and is not a Dish employee. He probably told you what you wanted to here in order to get you to subscribe.

i got a call from a bar once that all the tv's did not work . when i got thear they had directv boxes on all the tvs and all of the where set up on a home account. DTV found out and shut them down so i could not get any of them working. Then the owner has the gull to ask me if i can set him up the same way as DTV is suing him for $500,000 ..

A bisness account is not much more money then your home account and you can write it off at tax time if its a office location that dose not serve food or drinks with places to sit.

Having one account in two locations at the same time does violate terms in our residential customer agreement (account packing).

Having a residential account in a commercial residence also violates terms.

I don't know about DISH, but this is where all of DirecTV's theft of signal efforts are today, since their CA is not compromised. Their site that they used to advertise all the card programmers they had taken down is now dedicated to all the sports bars they're suing due to account stacking and using home accounts for business use.

People get crap for not having their second reciever in the bedroom plugged into the phone line, and audit jumps down their throats. Trust me, they want your home to be your home and your buisness to be your buisness. Unless your buisness is in a RV. Vacation home!

I have 2 receivers, a 722 and a 211K. The 211K does not have a telephone line plugged in. Over the last 13 years I have had 2 receivers, one with a telephone line plugged in and one without. I have never had an issue with this configuration. That said, my setup is legal so I don't care. You need to care when your setup is not legal.

Seems to me whether it is Dish, DirecTV, Cable or what ever service like that you are dealing with theft of service is just plain wrong. If I go to the store and buy a microwave oven for my house and decide I want the same one for my office I cant very well go back to the store and steal one for my office but that unfortunately in situations like this that is what people will try to do with satellite service. It would seem that it would not be that difficult to have receiver recognize a code built into the LNB or LNB's in the case of a multi dish install that the receiver would have to see that code to work. If it was connected to a different dish it would not work.

For a customer that has two homes, they may qualify as a Snowbird account. The two big requirements are that you take ALL active receivers on the account with you each time you move, and that you also call DISH and update your physical address.

your example doesn't track. what the 'theft of service' idiots think is illegal, is more like this. I have a trash can at the street, my neighbor throws something into it. He is guilty of 'theft of service' what a bunch of crap!

for your example, you would have to buy a microwave that can heat your food over a large distance. let's say from your office to your house. when you bought it, you told them that you would be using it at the office. you now decide to use it at the house. you would be 'guilty' of 'theft of service'. that really makes sense.

Yep, that's what I do for the camper. We just unhook the recievers from the house and plug them into the camper (pre wired).
Having dedicated recievers for the camper would get expensive quick anyway with the $17/mo additional outlet fee. Plus it allows the kids to have the DVR recordings needed to keep the youngest happy.

I do have a 3rd that stays at home when we're camping, but no one is there at the time so I've never worried about it.

Because the radio station's already paid the copywrite holders (songwriters) for the priviledge to broadcast the signal free and clear.

And another law that says it's illegal to decript it without authorization.

As for Dish paying to broadcast it. Yes, they paid to broadcast it, but they didn't pay to broadcast it free and clear.
