HD Locals Help

I live in Chicago and recently got HD and an off air antenna from Direct TV. They gave me a Samsung box. I'm sitting here watching Jay Leno on channel 5-1 which is called NBC5-DT. From what NBC's site says Jay Leno is suppose to be in HD. The thing is my HD light isn't alluminated on my Samsung box. The digital light is. Here is where it gets fun, does 5-1 NBC5-DT mean I can only get it in digital? I don't have a channel 5-1 NBC5-HD and when I run a scan it doesn't find any other NBC channels. The people at DirectTV were little help. Can anyone help??? Thanks
