HDTV Channels Currently NOT carried by DirecTV

Most are offered on FiOS TV and/or U-Verse. Additionally, VOOM and Rush HD are International channels that are not offered in the the U.S. market and should be removed from the original list.

Yes they are offered internationally, there is nothing stoping these guys from offering them again here in the U.S.

Because, I wanted to. Also, the so called HD leader isnt an HD leader anymore. When you have Verizon, Uverse, and even comcast kicking your ass in hd content, then your not the hd leader anymore. While yes I can get any sporting event in hd from directv, its time they start ramping up thier non sports tiers.

Comcast is kicking DirecTV's ass? I don't know where you live (or what you've been smoking) but here, Comcast only has 35 HD channels, that's including premiums. Its the whole reason I switched.

Just in case you dont belive me, I have taken screenshots directly from comcasts website, for my area! We also have been rebuilt for Docsys 3.0 wich is what im running off of now!

Thats not true.....where does that info come from ?

D10 & D11 have about 65 each....its a total of 133.

Edit: yep as raoul says below D12 will have "capacity of 80 HD channels" as it will have 16 transponders @ 5 HD channels per transponder.

According to the posts at dbstalk, when D12 is up and running, the capacity will increase by 80. That isn't to say that D12 will carry that many, but with the moving of channel carriage between D10, D12, and Spaceway 1, the overall increase will be 80.

Actually you're both right. It will be 80. But 50 of them will be RSN's upgraded from part-time to full-time. The other 30 will be PPV.

Well that'll be the first thing they do once its fully operational. Then launch ESPNU HD finally. Then add 30-40 more obscure sports channels. With the space left they'll add any missing locals. Happy Festivus!

HD capacity of a satellite

I can't believe that direct can spend millions or anyone on a satellite and only get 50 or 60 HD channels on it that seems like an awful waste of money.

I appreciate the list being posted. Even if D* knows the channels are out there, I think we should make a point now and then that we'd appreciate receiving some of these channels.

Frankly, I am shocked that D* is missing so many HD channels. I never thought it would get this bad. Especially after D* paid for so many advertising about them being the HD leader.

I understand their bandwidth limitation but did expect them to find a way to add another 6 to 10 channels this summer.

I remember watching and enjoying Travel HD on Dish more than a year ago. And I've love to get AMC, TCM, Thriller MAX, and a few other channels.
