Yes indeed it runs iOS.

I'm considering one of these but keep running into the question: why? Other devices do 1080, this one only does 720. Other than running iOS, possibly jailbreakable but without a touchscreen, why would I want one? I'm thinking something like the WD device or some other thing I haven't looked at yet might be more useful?

I hate to admit, using an iPhone has made me somewhat of a fanboi for iOS but I am yet to be convinced to connect one to my TV.

Good question...

I most likely won't be interested, but even Apple's loyal installed base will prefer a universal player as opposed to castrated, I think.

In the mean time, it has been jailbroken and hopefully we don't have to wait for too long to see what can be done with it...
