Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone here might have some experience with this.

I have a few DISH Network Wally receivers that are currently running software version W354, which I believe is a fairly old version. I've connected them to a working DISH satellite setup with a good signal, but so far I haven't been able to get them to download a newer software version.

Does anyone know if there is a way to force or manually trigger a firmware/software update on a Wally?

Maybe there's a specific procedure, menu option, satellite/transponder, reboot sequence, or trick that I'm missing.

I'm mostly curious to understand how the Wally determines when a software update is available and whether there's anything that can be done to manually initiate the download.

Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Foud a solution, it works, in case somebody needs it.

Method 1: The Bootloader Recovery Bypass (Deep Force)
This method forces the hardware to enter its raw recovery environment upon booting, compelling it to scrape the satellite stream for a clean copy of the software. [1, 2]
  1. Locate Physical Buttons: Walk up to the physical DISH Wally receiver box.
  2. Initiate Hard Reboot: Press and hold both the Power button and the Arrow Up button on the physical front panel simultaneously. [1, 2]
  3. Watch the Screen: Keep holding them down until the box completely shuts down and the screen goes black. [1]
  4. Release Sequence: As soon as the screen illuminates and says "Wally Starting Up", release the Power button but keep holding down the physical Arrow Up button. [1, 2]
  5. Wait for Blue Screen: Continue holding Arrow Up until the screen switches to a solid blue background that says "Bootloader Recovery". Release the button once you see this screen. [1, 2]
  6. Let it Process: A progress bar will appear at the bottom. Leave the receiver completely alone for 15–30 minutes while it forcefully pulls the firmware directly from the satellite feed. [1, 2]
