How do I get my picture to show up on messages?

I uploaded my picture, and it shows up when I look at my profile picture, but when I post messages it doesn't show up. Do I need to do something else to get it to appear? Sorry that this is a bit off-topic of VOOM, but I wasn't sure where to post this.

Make sure you click the button to show avatar. Also, make sure size isn't too big.

OK, thanks. Aparently I uploaded it as a profile picture before, instead of upload it as an Avatar. Now my pic shows up .

By the way, when I uploaded by avatar and my profile pic, I received an error saying that there had been an error receiving the file. The pic shows up, though, so obviously the error message is incorrect.
