I bought my first 920 along with a corotor 2 and 2 lnbs late in 2006 for 200 dollars. I bought a second 920 in 2008 for 60 bucks never subbed that one but it came with 2 extra remotes so I didnt have to carry from room to room.
I bought my GI 922 about three years ago on Ebay for $160 and that included 2 remotes and 3 RF modulators. Shipping was $20 for all the stuff and it came in the original box. This unit died last fall during battery surgery - I should of tried it myself! This spring I bought a 2004 Moto 922 for $126 plus $15 shipping on Ebay. This unit has not been quite right but it works.

Bought my 920 new in 2000 for $720. I wasn't too happy that the 922 came out about a year later.

I have many fond memories of watching all the digital Showtime channels and all the MTV and VH1 music video channels before they had commercials.

I bought the StarChoice DSR-921 (the StarChoice branded 4DTV) in May 1997 for $999 Canadian.(24" dish and receiver package) Besides receiving the StarChoice programming I had installed another 24" dish to receive HITS when they dropped the encryption. At that time I recorded the Tarzan movies off of AMC (American Movie Classics). It was a great channel with John Burke giving trivia about the movie from inside Radio City Music Hall in New york City. And most importantly, NO COMMERCIALS!!!!
I bought my first 4DTV receiver in 2002. It was my DSR905 for $169 new from Skyvision. In Sept 2007 I had to replace it with a new DSR922 from NPS. There was a discount involved in the transaction, IIRC it amounted to $469?? after the deal. Too bad that one had problems that took so long to get another new replacement I decided to purchase a DSR410 in Nov 2007 for another $139. Thinking the last of the new 922s were gone, but somehow NPS came through and received the last shipment and my second new 922 was at my door.
I would be far ahead if I could have just gone to DirecTV back in 2007 when I first looked into it.

Bought a new 920 in 1997 along with moving and installing my 10ft. dish at my new house for $ 1100.00 ( just to move and install the dish on a 20+ ft. pole was worth every penny my installer got for the job IMHO ), I did changed the battery in it last year but it was too late, the unit # already changed and I cannot get a new board for it now days.
Used 922 last year at a pawn shop for $ 100.00, works like a charm.

Bought my 920 when they first came out back in '97 I believe for a bit over $700.00 (still in use) we were even given a phone number to GI to troubleshoot problems with receiver back then.

I don't remember the exact amount or the year. But it was somewhere around the year 2000 and it was over $500. I originally got the 920 and later upgraded to the 922 in an exchange program. I think I had a sub thru Netlink back then. I have an HDD200 also - which didn't get much action.
I bought my first DSR920 in 1998 for $595.00. Bought my current DSR922 about a month ago for $150.00.
I bought a 922 and a 920 for $50.00 each from a satellite installer (he now installs dish and direct) about a year ago. Both had been sitting on his shelf in his warehouse for several years. Both work very well, but having mapping problems with the 920 now. I don't think it's the 920's fault--whatever behind the scenes is going on is affecting the receiver.
I hate to say over the years.
I have three dead 920's and am using a 922 I purchased from NPS several years ago.
I have been into C-Band since 1980 and still have the first receiver that I built. I don't remember how many dead or obsolete store bought receivers I have, but I have them stored in my garage attic.
I still have a portable 5' dish I used in the late 80's and early 90's that I took with me in my RV when vacationing or just camping over the weekend.
