Ok I have a microhd and I can tell when a channel is dvb s2 as it tells me on the info on the feed or channel I am viewing. However I notice some channels show up 720 and 1080 on the info but are dvb s and not s2. Is there a way you can tell if you have a mpeg 4 feed or a 4:2:0 feed? There is four types of hd feeds right? 4:2:2, 4:2:0,mpeg 4, and dvb s2?

I know when I get a 4:2:2 because the screen is green and I can only hear it, but I am trying to figure out on my receiver how I can tell what i have as far as the hd goes. All I know now is when I have a dvb s2 feed.

thanks

There is no way right now to know if its MPEG4
4:2:0 is what most channels are. If they were 4:2:2 you'd get the tearing effect

There is four types of hd feeds right? 4:2:2, 4:2:0,mpeg 4, and dvb s2?
But there are a few combinations as to what the channel is
-DVB or DVB-S2
-4:2:0 or 4:2:2
-MPEG2 or MPEG4

so lets use some examples
Most SD is MPEG2 DVB 4:2:0
There are SD feeds that are MPEG2 DVB 4:2:2 (mainly sports feeds)
Pentagon Channel HD (on 101W) is MPEG4 DVB 4:2:0
OETA (Oklahoma PBS...the 2nd channel) is MPEG2 DVB-S2 4:2:0
Most DVB-S2 HD is MPEG4

The only HD channels I know that are MPEG4 DVB-S2 4:2:2 are CBS feeds on C-Band

If its HD it will show DVB-S2 or not when you hit info and get the big info screen
4:2:0 and 4:2:2 are a visual thing

ok thanks. I notice sometimes it will say s2 and then times it will show 1080 or 720 and just say dvb s. So I am thinking maybe those are the 4:2:0 feeds.
