Hi,

How to setup a fixed dish and receive IA5. My zip is 78750.

The dish is already on a pole and face south. I think I used it point to CCTV-4 before. The Position is still like stayed in CCTV-4 location.

I ordered a Fortec Classic NA as the forum suggests and will be here next week.

Thanks for your help.

Great idea getting the Fortec Classic NA :)

I am sure you will LOVE it!

Here are all the angles to the satellites from where you are at!

If you are on the CCTV channels right now they at 95w

IA-5 is at 97w

So you want to go 2 deg. to the right (west) from behind the dish

Thanks, If I have another LNBF then I can use for another satellite? Let's say I can use it for IA5?

PSB, Could you explain for me what this numbers mean?

Galaxy 3C 95.0W 174.5 168.7 54.4 -4.7

Thanks,

So if install a motor on the dish will get IA5 automatically?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Its right at the top of the list and they are in the glossary.

Sat Name Sat Lng Az(t) Az(m) El Skew

Sat Name = satellite name

Az = aziumuth

El = elevation

skew = skew aka tilt

How hard is the setup should be. Can you briefly explain I will see if I am able to perform that or not?

Thanks,

If you are setting up a fixed dish, you set the paramaters.... Elevation, skew and aziumuth and you are done. Those change for every sat, hence the list above.

With a motor (oversimplifcation coming) you set that for a single sat and the motor (via usals) can find the rest of them for you.

Basically you tell the USALS receiver (which the NA is ) where you are and it can figure out where to point the dish AFTER you've locked in at least one satellite. You can't just point the dish due north and expect it to figure it out, you have to give it one waypoint.
