Last night at about 11pm my hr-21 lost all channels(sd and hd) as I was flipping through channels. I turned the receiver off and got up this morning and still no channels of any kind were coming in. I went to the menu to check signal strength and the entire receiver completely froze on the view signal strength button. I had to unplug the unit to get it working. When it restarted it was working again. Any ideas as to what the problem might be or how to prevent this from happening again? I have only had this hr-21 since Monday. Thanks in advance for any info!

Stuff happens, but hopefully it won't do this very often. My HR21 froze a few times with an earlier software version, but has been fine since updating. There is a red reset button under the door on the lower right of the front panel. Pressing that will usually cause it to reboot when it won't respond to the remote. If it will respond, you can reset from the setup menu (preferred method).
Since we're talking about the HR21...Does anyone know if the 30 sec fast forward can be changed to instant 30 sec skip like on E*'s 622. That is the only thing about the HR21 that I don't like. Its not a big deal. I just like the instant skip instead of the fast forward skip. I know I turned the scrolling effects off and that made a huge difference in the speed of the remote commands.
Yes, it's one of the little back door changes you can make. In the search for program function do a keyword search for 30skip and then all. It won't find anything but now the 30 second slip is a 30 second skip. To go back to the same but search for 30slip.
