I have an hr-22-100 connected to an onkyo av receiver with a hdmi cable, that is connected to a sony rear projection tv by hdmi to dvi cable. when changing channels or going from live tv to recorded tv, the picture will occasionally freeze but the audio continues. The only resolution is to power off/on my onkyo receiver. I don't think it is the onkyo receiver because the problem never happened with my uverse box connected the same way. Anything I can do to fix this?

Is the HR22 set to output Native On or Off? If On then this can cause the TV to resync to a different resolution.
The AV receiver could be hiccuping on this as well. Try Native Off and set the Resolution to always output what ever the native resolution is for the TV.
