HR34 box lagging and unusable

Started having problems the box lagging(more than usual), programs not recording, pictures freezing and channels not playing. After resetting the box multiple times the machine is still basically non functional. The only error code is no Internet connection. Tried 'clearmybox' which seemed to just set the box into reset mode.
Any other suggestions before I try 'reset everything'? Afraid to call the company for fear of magically getting stuck in another contract.
 
a warranty replacement should not have a contract. an upgrade would, so dont upgrade
 
Call and tell them your HR34 won't power up, and you need a replacement. Don't even mention the word
upgrade". The replacement will almost certainly be an HR44 but don't get involved in a discussion over that. After the replacement arrives and you connect it, call DirecTV and make sure they have NOT extended ypour contract.
