HRX phone / data hookup

When the HRx reciever is plugged into the phone do they call out to D* other than to order PPV events like the old recievers did to download veiwing habits etc.? What about when hooked up to a network?

I think they send back a whole bunch of stuff, although I'm not sure what. I know they'll send back your signal level info if the signal levels arent that good.

I'm just hoping the encrypt whatever they're sending with at least half the horsepower they put into protecting THEIR data...
