If you don't see the EHD listed, that means that the Hopper isn't seeing it. Pull the connection, wait a few seconds and plug the cable back in. You'll get a note saying that the Hopper sees a new external device. You'll then find it listed.

Mine occasionally gets delisted when the Hopper does its nightly reboot.
