Looks like Best Buy will have their own brand of converter box. Not cheap either at $60.

You know, instead of posting each box. Maybe it would be nice to have a list of boxes and retail locations to buy them?

Radio Shack and Circuit City sell the Zenith DTT900. Looks like Target will sell the GE box, and Walmart the Magnavox and RCA boxes.

Any differences between the boxes? So far the only differences I can tell are EPG and auto tuning (ie: VCR timers), and maybe S-Video (haven't see any yet).

But this box does have auto tune. I thought that was a standard feature, but looks like its not going to be. Very useful if you are connecting this to a DVD recorder or VCR. (Auto tune allows the box to change channels at a specific time).

I was wondering if TIVO might have a software change that will allow it to use these boxes...

That is the speculation on the TiVo forums.

Doesn't Series 2 TiVo's already tune cable boxes? If so, it should be easy enough for them to add in another remote.

I just got this box from Best Buy. It does NOT change channels for timed VCR recording. Auto Tune just searches for all the DTV channels.

Also the program guide only shows the program that is now playing and the one that is coming up next. And it is not in "spreadsheet" form. You can not see the info for more than one channel at a time

Strange, I thought this box would have the timer recording. Oh well, my bad. Sorry!
