I have bought a Samosonite 30" Dish, Universal Ku LNB and Traxis DBS 1500 receiver. I am a first timer and want to do self installation. I do not have clear south from my Apt patio. Sothewest and West is clear to me.
I would like to get Echostar 9 / Intelsat at 121° W to receive Zee TV. My Zip code is 78754 . I guess that is the only one sat I will be able to get clear LOS from my patio.

After reading through several sites and threads here I understand that I have to set the inclination angle followed by Azimuth angle.
In transponder manager Signal Level I get is 55% and Quality level is 0% for IA13. Do I have to add Echostar 9 to Satellite list? If so how? Hotbird 1 shows 70% signal level with fluctuating quality level (0 to 25%). If I check the satellite position, no way I can reach that satellite from my patio! Can somebody help me with step by step instructions? I will be glad if my wife is able to see atleat one Indian channel

There is no way to update the satellite list on the Traxis, so you will have to use an unused satellite name.

I don't know if Dish carries it, but it is on C-band @ 3940 V on 121w in the clear (DCII). You're right, wrong equipment.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks a lot for your replies. I am figuring out few things now! I burned my fingers on a wrong equip a little!! That's OK.. let me go further. I tried setting up the dish to G10r and I am getting 30 to 49% quality in few channels, but I am not able to tune in to any channel. Same level of signals show up in Echostar 9 also, without changing any setting. I think E9serves only Dish TV. So I am not sure my Dish is pointing G10r or E9. What should be the minimum level of quality to get any program? Is G10r in Ku band?

If nothing works, I will subscribe to Dish network. There goes my additional questions! Sorry to ask you so many questions guys!
1. Can my 30" Dish work as a Super dish for Dish Network?
2. Can I use same LNBF (DrSat Universal Ku 0.5) for Dish network? (I think not after reading most of the threads in this site)
3. Which is the best receiver in Dish net? Does 301 work with the programs which require superdish?
