Today is the start of my favorite part of the baseball season: Interleague Play!

Granted, this is only for three days, but it will start what is always an interesting part of the season.

I love Interleague Play because the matches are so unpredictable and so interesting.

I don't like it that much myself. Kinda takes away from the World Series in my opinion.

so-so

Hi!

I used to really dislike it. Now, as I have grown more a fan of certain players than a die-hard fan of particular team, I have settled into it. With guys changing teams like we change socks, it doesn't really matter that much to me anymore.

Yet, it seems the fans REALLY like it. It's bringing in the $$$$ or MLB would not keep doing it year after year. :eureka

I'm sick of the Tigers, Royals & Chisox all the time

They should have where you play the whole other league once.

Also the whole double series against someone they should drop. Sure its nice to see Cubs/Chisox & Mets/Yanks & Twins/Brewers (those games are always fun) but how about those Seattle/Colorado barnburners or the Jays/Nats games?? no thanks.

Interleague (conference) play is silly. The two city teams draw well. But they draw well anyway, becaue they are big cities.

The rest of the country is left with games between teams that might be in the same state. WHO CARES? Or just another game with just another team.

The only argument for this perversion on 120 years of history is the chance to see other players, which might have been significant before free agency insured that 95% of great players would eventually play in both leagues anyway.

Are you the guy from DBSForums who called the Big East "leastleftovers?"

Couldn't agree more. I have no problem with inter-league play, but I do think everyone plays WAY too many games in their own division. Personally I would like to see the Tigers play their old Eastern division foes more often.

I love interleague play but I think they need to do a rotation like the NFL does where you play a different division every year. I know!! MLB does do it but I cannot remember the last time my wife's Phillies or my Mets came down to St. Pete to play the Rays. MLB overlooks this because they are focused on the east teams playing their rival team and then the central or west division teams. MLB needs to have the east division play the entire other east division every third year.

I agree completely. The NFL has a good way of scheduling out of conference games in which every team within division "A" plays every team from division "B". Then rotates which division a team plays every year. This format should be copied simply because it is more fair and eliminates any disadvantage.

For instance, here is a peek at 2 teams from the AL Central's Inter-league schedule.....

Cleveland….

@ Cinci- 3 games (NL Central)
vs. SD- 3 games (NL West)
@ Colorado- 3 games (NL West)
@ LAD- 3 games (NL West)
vs. SFG- 3 games (NL West)
vs. Cinci- 3 games (NL Central)

Detroit…..

@ Arizona- 3 games (NL Central)
vs. LAD- 3 games (NL Central)
@ SFG- 3 games (NL Central)
@ SD- 3 games (NL Central)
vs. STL- 3 games (NL Central)
vs. Colorado- 3 games (NL Central)

As you notice, Cleveland plays 4 of the 5 teams from the NL West. The only team from the NL West in which they don't play is Arizona. Instead, they play Cinci (NL Central) in two separate series'.

Detroit however, plays everyone from the NL West, and St. Louis from the NL Central.

This doesn't make much sense as it is right now.....

I'm not sure, but I think St. Louis/ Detroit has been designated a White Sox / Cubs, Mets / Yankees type of thing. Just guessing...

They need to split things into camps.....

Mets-Yankees
Cubs-White Sox
Dodgers-Angel's or Angels-Padres
Astros-Rangers

These are all natural rivalries with huge numbers present when they play.....

The other ones should be rotated, so that each local fan base can see different stars come to town that they normally don't get to see.

It might not seem "fair", since The Mets and Yankees tend to have better players (to go with their higher payrolls), but I don't think people are crying too much for them on this issue, as they have no problem playing a $200 million team against a $40 million one....

In a 162 game season, the inequities are washed out fairly easily....
