Internet connection and Hd guide

I know to use some features of the hr 24 you need an internet connection. If you do not have an internet connection will the new HD guide still work with standard features? Watched their promo and it shows a hook up with internet. So that is why I asked if needed to use or just something you can use?

As long as you have an HD setup, the new guide will work just fine.
