Greetings,

I have a bridge that is connecting my VIP612 (Have Dish Network and switching to DirecTV) to the internet via wireless. Works great.

When my new HD-DVR comes with the DirecTV installer, couldn't I just plug that Ethernet cable into the DirecTV equipment and it would connect to the internet the same way?

It uses DHCP so I would think it would just get an address and we'd be all set.
Comments as to why this would not work? Would an Internet Connection Kit be needed?

It will work just fine regardless of your adapter being DHCP or statically assigned as you're not changing any network equipment, just the Satellite equipment. Out of the box, the DTV equipment is set to DHCP so it will detect the wireless adapter plugged into the Ethernet port and access the wireless network to pull an IP.
