Heard on local NBC affiliate that Isiah Thomas could be named head coach at Florida International University as early as 10am today. Not sure if it will be a good thing or a bad thing. FIU people must have overlooked at the negative stuff that happened with the Knicks.

Let's not go calling FIU an "outhouse".....they are a very up and coming program with a couple of NBA players in Raja Bell and Carlos Arroyo....!!! I am sure you remember THAT Carlos Arroyo.....the one that made Team USA his bitches a few years back....

No insult intended for FIU. But you have to understand my comparison.

The New York Knicks are one of the most storied NBA franchises. Isiah was the former coach and head of Basketball operations for this franchise. And now he's thinking about accepting a job at a mid-major? Come on. You got to see the humor in this, right?

But considering the condition the franchise was in....and the fact that FIU was not in bad condition....just not winning....WHO was the "penthouse" and WHO was the "outhouse"?

Like I said, I'm not dissing your team, but coaching on a professional level has more prestige than coaching a team from the Sun Belt Conference. Looking at this, I just see this as a demotion, not a promotion.

Ok.....look at the condition he left the Knicks in.....did you REALLY expect him to get ANY JOB after what happened in NY? What THAT being said, how can you call getting a job with ANY basketball program a demotion when there was a chance he 'will never work in this field again' ?

Yeah, the same "no D" player that SUCKED in Detroit.

Never known for "D".... but definately scored AND played decent point guard in Detroit....when given the chance.....

Sorry. Not at any time. He had plenty of opportunities here. More turnovers than assists most nights, at least that how it felt. He would turn it over repeatedly trying to make the "flashy" play, instead of just getting the ball there. Again the biggest sin was his "D". You don't play "D" in Detroit, you don't play. I had high hopes for him when he got here, couldn't wait for Dumars to get rid of him, after he did. This was absolutely the wrong team for that player. Phoenix would have been a good team for him.

Then the part that he didn't play decent enough D TOTALLY falls on Dumars because he was NEVER known to be a great defense player....ever. He didn't get enough playing in Detroit and fans were looking at the whole situation through jaded eyes because they expected another "glove"......that was ever gonna happen. He torched Team USA so bad they had forwards guard him... I thought that would lead to more playing time, but obviously it did not happen.

Is Carlos related to Bronson Arroyo? Otherwise, I've honestly never heard of the guy.

I saw him in those Olympics, too. He didn't play that way in Detroit.

LMAO...because he was THE point guard....opposed to 'one of the point guards'. :D

Look, there was NO WAY he was gonna sit Billups and shouldn't have....but I think he was never told he would get his fair share of minutes and they probably expected him to become a good defensive player just because he was a Piston. I have always thought a good defensive player can become great....and a below average defensive player with never be better than above average...which is NOT the same as a good defensive player.

That's just the way we roll here in Detroit. I haven't seen him in any all-star games, so maybe he hasn't been that great anywhere else either? Pretty much looks like the Olympic's were his "15 minutes".
