I got a PM a week or so ago asking why I haven't done the Friday Fun Poll in a while. Never thought about bringing it back but with a lot of newer FTA'ers on here, I figured lets bring it back

For the uninformed (and the ones who need a refresher) the FFP is a question I throw out there with a couple options to choose from. Now the only rules are
1. However the question is written, thats how it has to be answered. No additional info
2. Don't think of your current FTA setup. Some of us can't do C-Band or have LOS issues but it the FFP there are no drawbacks here.
3. Have fun with it :)

An example we had was
"if you could only have ONE receiver in your setup, do you want it to have motor controls or blind scan?"....Sounds simple, right ;)

OK...for today's FFP

You currently have the most awesome Dish setup. 12 foot solid dish with C & KU on it and can view from 30W over to 148W. You are proud of your dish and now you need a new receiver. You already have the V-Box controller so all you need is the new box. So you buy a new receiver that has blind scan, HD, OTA tuner and a PVR already in it....but there is one feature missing

What would it be?
4:2:2 capability or
DVB-S2 capability?

You can only choose ONE. And don't say "I'll add a PC card for 4:2:2" because that isn't an option. Remember rule 1 ;)

So what would you pick????

I personally would choose 4:2:2 just based on the issue that right now there are more 4:2:2 feeds out there than DVB-S2

:)

I voted for "DVB-S2", but only because I already have 4:2:2 with my Qualitv. If I didn't have the Qualitv, I would have voted for "4:2:2"... Also, when I do get around to getting a new STB HD Receiver, it will have to do both, along with PVR capabilities...!

I'm surprised by the results so far, only 19 votes but mostly in the S2 direction. I actually want a box that does both, like most prob do, but we had to vote one feature on this poll.

I'd have to go with S2, as we have already been informed that Equity will soon be all S2... I suspect other uplinkers will follow this trend as well.

One more vote to have DVB-S2, as I don't want to miss out on those RTN signals once the Ku bird switches over.
I hope those manufacturers are listening..... WE WANT DVB-S2

some of you didn't read the rules ;)
you're only allowed one receiver in the setup :D
(but its all in good fun)

DVB-S2 it is.. I want the Equity channels :)

(and while Iceberg isn't looking, I'll get a QualiTV for 4:2:2) *haha*

I think that DVB-S2 is the way of the future. If I had to chose one OR the other, DVB-S2 is my choice.

DVB-S2, since some Equity channels are up that way, and potentially others!

4:2:2 is fine, but other than the NBC feeds there's nothing that I want too much in that format.

DVB-S2 for me. I wish someone would release an affordable unit with blind scan. Seems manufacturere are really dragging their feet on this one.

I have a pansat 9200HD It is a nice box and DOES imaginary s-2 signals. It is "capable"
