Jets rookie QB Ainge suspended four games for steroids

NEW YORK — The NFL has suspended New York Jets quarterback Erik Ainge for violating the league's policy on steroids, the Jets announced on their website on Friday.

Ainge, the team's fifth-round choice in this year's draft, will be suspended four games without pay, effective immediately.

He will be eligible to rejoin the team following New York's contest against the Buffalo Bills on December 14, the Jets' site (New York Jets) reported.

The 22-year-old has not played for the Jets this season and was placed on the team's injured reserve due to a foot injury on October 28.

How Stupid can someone be?

ONLY 4 games!!!! HA Ha Ha WHAT a Joke... It should be a 3 year ban... The NFL needs to set an example... That it is serious about drug abuse in the NFL…….

We have no way of knowing how successful some masking may be, and in the case of this fringe player, he may not have been NFL material without them.

Remember this is a PA agreement, they would never agree with something like that.
You definatly can't do that in the middle of a year (change rules).

Not saying it's right ...

I think that the ban of 4 games is adequate, actually more than, seeing it takes you out for 1/4 of the year.

Baseball finally did the same a few years back ...

3 Years is a TAD extreme. That's basically a death sentence for a player. Who is going to want a player that has been out of action for 3 years? It should be a slap on the wrist at first at 4 weeks, but if you get caught again it should be like a punch in the face with a 1 year suspension without pay, then a dismissal from the league if you're caught a third time.
