I noticed that my Joey 4 software is not the most recent.

When i use the software update tool I geta message saying"

Failes: no Tgt.

What does this mean? Can I do anything to correct this? Do I need a tech visit?

It gets its update from the Hopper. If everything works, it's fine.

Agreed but the software is not the most current and the update process failed..I am having an issue with DVR playback and I wanted to see if this might correct it Ideally I would like this thread to focus on the error message and what the next step for that might be.

Can anyone help with this request,?

I have reported both this issue and the original issue to a CSR. The CSR did not seem to understand the distinction between the Joey 4 and the Joey 4K or the procedure for updating the software on a Joey 4. However the CSR believed that the issue lies with the Joey and not the Hopper or the cabling between the Hopper and the Joey 4. They were also unable to explain the meaning of the (to me) cryptic error message "No Tgt".

I will be receiving a replacement Joey 4 (I hope) by FedEx in the next few days. I suspect that my issues are unique but I will report on the software version side of things here and on whether it resolves my other issue in the thread that discusses that.

By the way I am not blaming the CSR for any of this. I think they are not trained in all the varisations of a JOey and how they operate but they do their best.

I have seen the Tgt thing before in my Joey 4s. It worked itself out couple days later.

No offense but CSR's don't know wth they're talking about

I was at my friends house who has the Hopper and Plus and two Joey 4s. I checked you can upgrade your software for the Hopper at any time using the Tools setting and there are Technician settings as well and you can select the ATV files to be downloaded for your Joey4s, plus unit, etc. I noticed the files are connected to the software you are supposed to be on, so you can select that one for your Joey 4s. I don't know if that helps you in your situation, but you can do that and see if it updates anything. But all these files are stored on the Hopper for access to the Joey 4s and Plus unit.

No target is usually because the Hopper 3's diagnostics screen in the Available Joey Software section does not show the P version's for the Joey 4 which should be P552 and P55212. Until that happens, the Download ATV (Android ATV) software under Tech Settings and the About section of the Device itself will not work. This applies to the Hopper Plus, Joey 4 and Wireless Joey 4 as the version for the device needs to be there.

Both the ATV files and the Device's (Hopper Plus, Joey 4 and Wireless Joey 4) can only be updated if the Available Joey Software has the device's software listed. If it's not listed, it will say No Target. And while ATV files can be downloaded, I still have not seen how the downloaded files can be actually used as it does not have a way to be installed after the download files function and the Device's own software check for updates does not use the ATV files and only seems to do the download, install from the internet directly.

The No Target issue usually happens right after an update for the Hopper 3's software if the Available Joey Software list does not show any P versions. This issue was noticed by me and others with H703 and I had the issue about a year ago as well.

In my case the Tools menu on the Hopper does not seem to update my Joey 4. The commands are there it just does not seem to have any effect.

at this point I am assuming that the software will eventually download to this Joey 4 or to the replacement I'd and when it arrives.

By the way I do not have a Hopper Plus. You do not need one to use a Joey 4.

Do you have the current Joey 4 software loaded on the Hopper?

Not for sure but both the Joey and the Hopper may have to be in standby for the Joey to update.

Yes. I really think that this part of the issue will resolve itself one way or the other. While the CSR thinks that this is a factor in my main problem I am not so certain. I do think that the process should be more straightforward.

It gets its update from the Hopper. If everything works, it's fine.
I received a replacement Joey 4. It has an even older software version and a weak connection to the Hopper. Buy having said that my underlying problem seems to be gone.

One issue though. The return label does not seem to be where the instructions and the CSR ay they will be. I was told I have 10 days to return the old Joey but that it will take 20 days to receive an email with a replacement label. I told the CSR that this was unacceptable and I am still trying to get a label or have the 10 day return period extended.

It should not be this hard.
