I bought a KI Plus to get the NASA 4K channel. Getting the channel was pretty easy, but I need help with one issue on the receiver. When I'm entering something that calls up the on-screen QWERTY keyboard, I can't figure out how to OK or ENTER the data. Selecting the return arrow key does just that and goes to a new line. I tried the smilely face in the lower left corner hoping that it meant "I happy with the data", but no luck.

I'm really happy with the receiver otherwise, although it's not always straight forward. Anyway I'm trying to rename the NASA channels, but dumb me can't figure it out. I bet it is very simple.

When using the remote for quick editing, on some screens pressing the Exit key will exit the field you've edited. For editing channel names, if there are very many of them, I usually connect a wireless keyboard and use that.

Where did you buy it?

I bought it from Amazon for $68. There are different versions out there and I made sure I got one with the Amlogic S905 processor. I'm not promoting the seller I used, but the receivers are shipped from the U.S. Mine arrived in two days with Amazon Prime shipping. I can provide more info on the seller if you're interested.

I've always wanted to try out one of these Android DVB boxes but always concerned it would be an endless time sucking black hole. Maybe by the time I get a 4k TV things will have matured. The one thing that has always piqued my interest was the possibility of connecting a USB DVB S2 tuner to receive 4:2:2 feeds although doubt this box has the CPU/GPU to decode it.

The K1+ is not very user friendly, but it is able to display the CBS 4:2:2 channels using a combination of hardware/software acceleration and the right codec. It often stutters and freezes or loops. It is not a candidate for anyone looking for a one box solution for 4:2:2.

Openelec on a RPi does a decent job at live stream and file play out of 4:2:2 transport streams. Nice inexpensive solution to stream on your network from a DVBS2 STB and view on a media STB. Have read on other forums that some OTT TVs are used. :)

Cool that someone has tried 4:2:2 feeds on a K1+, even with mixed success. Was this with stock tuner or external tuner? There is a K1/KII thread on Libreelec forum with quite of bit of activity but its all seems pretty bleeding edge thus far.

Seems like 4.2.2 on a new stb will remain elusive, appears that the new manhattan 4k box will not be able to do 4.2.2 unless its something similar to what Brian is describing here. Still havent tried my Wetek Play 2 on my dish yet, just havent had the time but apparently it will play 4.2.2 recordings in kodi with tvheadend, but only if you run a different os from a micro sd card. And the setup appears to be complicated. The tuner thus far appears to be very user unfriendly similar to the description Brian gives for the K1.

I pulled the trigger on the Wetek Play 2 because I was hoping for a box that would do pretty much what my Roku3 does but with a satellite tuner as well. Appears its not as great and wonderful as i had hoped. It does do Netflix and amazon prime, the picture is great, and in hd (and does stream 4k but i have no 4k tv) but........No surround sound on either of these, have no idea about kodi as i havent really tried it out yet. Only thing thus far i have found, and it was from some serious searching, was some videos on you-tube that were in surround. Even my smart tv and roku apps for netflix and amazon play videos in surround if its available.

At this point i figure ill wait a little longer and if worst comes to worst ill just build a micro pc with an I7 processor, a fairly hefty Geforce graphics card, 16 gigs of ram and a dvbs2 tuner. Then i can use my iphone or ipad as a remote and have wireless/bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Seems like overkill but if i can get it to work doing pretty much what i want it to do then i guess ill be happy, and i wont have to worry about the wife taking the remote and being the couch commando.
