KFTL, ONN,,cannot pick up..

Couple of questions:

This shouldnt be that hard but I am trying to get KFTL using 11981/H/1666 on 72 using Fortec Star Dynamic receiver..I can only enter the TP manually and I get the error message "invalid parameter"..The only time I ever see this error..

Secondly, While I am now getting most of the channels i want, including RTV, Gospel Music TV, White Springs and Montana PBS, I still cannot get ONN..despite being just 120 miles away from the uplink..Would appreciate the current TP location.Thanks

Tim, ONN is now called WBNS, and it scans in as "WBNS TV" on my CS 6000.

tp info is:

Horizons 2 Ku @ 74W

I don't have a Fortec, but that error may be caused by the low Scan Rate. Are you getting Good Quality on the Church Channel?...

I get KTFL on AMC6 at 11890mhz.....SR is what you have. It's a tough one for some boxes, with a symbol rate that low.
That "invalid parameter" thing is a bug in the software, I think, on the Merc 2 boxes, I've seen it before.

I have tried 11733/H/6616 for the last several weeks for ONN-No go..I have gotten it in the past..And I know it scans in as WBNS since ONN is operated out of that station..

As far as KFTL, I manage to get it once in awhile, but lose it on the next time I powerscan..

The "Church Channel" on 72-I get well above 50-sometimes into the 70's quality

Do you get anything when you blind scan 74W? I know there are a couple data TP's on that satellite that should lock too

edit: just did scan and found a data TP on that sat...only thing on there right now other than ONN

I get some oddball TP's once in awhile..Not usually the data ones..many times the 72 TP's show up on 74..

Came in fine when I was playing with my Fortec MercII a few weeks ago. Bring up the TP, switch from UALS to Disqc and do a fine move west one or two times...

Switching between my Fortec and VisionSat, my Fortec was dead on using UALS, but the with the VisionSat, I had to switch to Disqc and perform a fine move on some sats.

Tim, try and manually enter the TP info into the receiver. Doing this from my memory, scary thought at 6AM....Antenna settings...scroll down to TP scan.....enter TP info and have it scan that way. If I remember right on my receiver I've not been able to blind scan ONN the other way. Hope that helps, Blind

After doing what you suggested and using the Diseqc for a while..I have 40-50 Quality on WBNS..Diseqc was the key though..Thanks all for your help..

Hello gang:
Here's a more complete answer as to exactly what I did..I unscrewed the coax from the back of the Fortec Dynamic which apparently helped clear the memory. After putting it back on and resetting everything, the Motor finally got going (everything beyond 79 W was repeating itself..same channels as 79 and several different satellites)

The Powerscan went pretty well, other than having to delete some duplicate channels along the way..

Finally,tonight right before work, I tried to see about ONN on 74..After using Diseqc moving east and west, then in increments I got close to 50 quality..I then saved the setting..Had done something similar with RTV on 83 W..After getting well over 30 quality consistently, I saved that setting as well...Still need to work on KFTL but thats not a big issue at this point..

Tim, Glad I could help. I tried last night to get KFTL and I got the invalid parameter thing on the receiver. The receiver won't see a symbol rate that low I guess. Being in Ohio ONN is a decent channel for us to watch. Where else can I see the noon news at 3pm when I get home. The dynamic is an ok receiver but I'm about to have to completely delete everything and start from scratch for the third time. Sometimes while blind scanning it will lock up and just sit there. Lately it's been getting stuck more often so time to fix it again. Blind

I agree about ONN..I like some of the off the wall sports coverage they have like Crew Soccer and Ohio State Ice Hockey. I also like their different newscasts from Cincinnati and Columbus that I would never see otherwise. They also have a "Academic Challenge" type show with High School Students called "Brain Game". While I also get ONN on Time Warner Cable here, Its nice to get it FTA as well..It looks better picture-wise I think..
