L & R polarity

I can not get Intelsat 707 or Intelsat 705. I noticed those show polarity L or R...

What is that? Do I need to change anything to get them. I can get all other sats with H or V Polarity.

Here is a little "riddle" that I composed so that you can keep this straight in your mind. You see, the LNBF converts the Right Hand and Left Hand polarity signals to vertical and horizontal frequencies so that your receiver shows you only V or H references.

The little riddle goes as such...

"I own an RV which I can only drive in a LH circle because the steering column is broken."

RV = Right Hand Circular = Vertical

LH = Left Hand Circular = Horizontal

If you are looking at a C-Band or Ku Band sat with circular polarity, you will need an LNBF that can accept this polarity and convert it so that your receiver can use it.

Circular polarity signals are transmitted down from the satellite in a sort of corkscrew fashion like water going down a drain.

Linear polarity signals are transmitted down like the crosshairs in a rifle scope.

It may appear to be quite trite and simplistic to view it this way, but it works very well. I think it paints a fairly good picture in your mind.

Have you found any signals yet?

I am very curious what you are pulling in so far. I won't be of great help to you with any first hand information since you are in South America and I am up north in the center of the U.S. It would be interesting to know what you have found so far, though.

hey radar, i've locked into 53west and yes i'm getting 5-channels sportsmax and africable, the others have colour bars, so far my signal quality is 58 compared to a coolsat-5000 that is 87 quality
