L630

Last time I got that type of thing was I was not connected to the internet or the IP was blank and I had to reset that stuff.
Are you sure it's on the network ?

graphics are pretty poor on that first screen even when it's working. It's like commodore 64 quality

BUG:
If a show is recording and you go to the PVR and select it and hit START OVER, it won't start over, instead you begin viewing the program at wherever it is at that moment.

I've also gotten black screens for 1 minute or so after trying the streaming function and then switching to a regular channel. Audio from the new channel was coming through the whole time, but no picture.

Very buggy. I'll stick with ROKU for streaming, DISH...it said it would be 5 hrs before I could view a streaming show in HD on my Dish Receiver.

Since getting the update, my 622 has been going through boot recoveries repeatedly (warning 981).

A replacement unit is on it's way.

I noticed that when I unplugged for a restart, which I always do for an update, that my receiver only whirred for a couple of seconds, and them fell silent, it used to whir loudly for much longer. It just did the 3am reboot and the same thing happened.

I too noted the same different activity. Usually, on a hard boot, the receiver made that "sound" for up to a minute. Now, it's just a few seconds...

At least no reboots on this old 622 for me so far!

Vip622 L630 Update External USB Drive

Since L630, my external hard drive (full of programs, of course) is no longer recognized by the receiver - it says " this external drive needs to be formatted for use with your DVR receiver" !! So, I just lose everything that I archived to External drive?

Unplug the DVR and the USB to the EHD and let the DVR reboot. After the DVR shows TV again, plug the USB cable back in. That may fix it.

I have this on my 622 also. I don't like the new Dish On Demand interface. It seems a lot less integrated and useful than the old interface and there seems to be no way to get a list now. This seems like a solution looking for a problem. Agreed about the porno on the main page. I wish it wasn't there and Dish should know better.

The other thing I have noticed is that while the receiver is connected to broadband and the connection tests OK, I can no longer reach it from dish on-line. The on-line webpage refuses to recognize the receiver as being on-line. I don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but this problem started around the same time the upgrade was applied.

I got my replacement 622 over the weekend (L630 bricked my old one). When it downloaded software it was.......L629! They must have stopped the rollout of 630, with good reason.

I found another bug. I have a folder on the main DVR HD with 10 or so episodes of Star Trek. Inside the folder I used to be able to view the description and hit done and it would go back to the list inside the folder with the one I just looked at highlighted. Now when I hit done it goes back outside the folder and I have to open the folder again to see the list and try to remember which one I was just viewing the description of. SUX.

I hate the updated DVR screen. Reminds me of the UI I would see on my old 2800 receiver. And I question the color choices. Don't color blind folks have trouble with shades of green?

I think the most common color deficiency, is Red-Green (No, not the Canadian actor! hehe) . It just changes the Hue of the color, it doesn't make it invisible, so shouldn't affect it's usability that much. No more so than the original Blue.

I just think the Blue was a better choice for the average person. Green seems quite bland to me..

I get random reboots now.

Was just watching a recorded episode of Scooby Doo with my kid and it rebooted while we were watching.

I found this morning that I could make it reboot at will with this version of the software on it. Basically choose any of the options on the new DVR screen rather than going to your list of recordings. chose any option from the new screen you got. Become impatient with the inability of the system to retrieve any data, hit cancel. Hit cancel. locked. System will be stuck and unresponsive and after a minute or so it reboots.

this on a 622.

How F'd up can Dish be. Perfectly good 722 worked flawlessly for years and one update screws everything up. Then to top it off, lets cancel channels and not let me see the Blues games

622 Just rebooted itself in the middle of recording a OTA channel and a Sat Channel while someone was watching another channel. This is going to get pretty irritating. I'm gonna have to think long and hard before signing on to any type of 2 year contract for any type of upgrade, be it google tv or a 722k.

Dish, WTF are you doing to your equipment? Are you really that unable to write stable code? Come on, I thought you were professionals?

My 722 is actually running L670 (not 630), but it's having all the same problems being reported here. Since getting the new software version my 722 has randomly shut down, and has frozen and required front panel rebooting a couple of times. The wife is really frustrated.

I have 630 on my 622 and 670 on my 722 (the way it's supposed to be). I've had none of these problems. I, like others, think the VOD screen sucks as far as aesthetics (it looks like the software on my old 721).

Consider yourself lucky. My unit has crashed more than a car in a demolition derby in the past several days. I can make the receiver crash on demand whenever I search for a movie in the VOD screen
