I received L630 on my ViP622 this morning. The ViP722 still has L629.

The first thing I've noticed is that pressing the DVR button once brings up a different VOD screen. The aesthetic design of which is totally different from the rest of the software. It included "Midnight Lounge", which, after a few clicks I discovered was just porn, so I blocked it. Still weird that it's on the main screen (even if blocked). I'll bet there will be some complaints about that.

What else is in this release?

Edit: The font is different for the guide and most menus. The color schemes for the favorites lists changed such that the highlighted channel in the guide is different. Since my 722 still has L629, I made an A/B comparison as follows:

L629-->L630
All Chan: Navy -------> Navy (no change)
All Sub: Royal -------> Green
All HD: Teal --------> Mustard

Got it as well. Looks like they are trying to make PPV/VOD easier to find. Some movies are now listed in the DVR menu.

Yes, if you have young kids you may want to lock the Midnight Lounge right away! Otherwise, they will find it as soon as they click on the DVR button! It's rather unthoughtful for Dish to put it on the main DVR menu and not lock it by default! I bet a lot of kids will discover the Lounge before their parents!

What is interesting is my software is listed as L670 for my ViP722 - not L630 (previous version was L629.)

Not a fan of the new color scheme in the guide, will never use the VOD features and I'm disappointed they did not address volume leveling as they had with the 722k.

and two shows worked but others are just black screens that are supposed to be 'playing'

already fed up with this mess but i see my modem going wide open right now but i said watch 'now' not download to watch so i have no idea wtf this things doing.

Just got back and saw your suggestion and it seems to have gotten the shows that were not showing to show properly, nice!

I really don't like my modem still downloading data as I was wanting to play some xbox multiplayer and I don't want to do both at the same time. I guess I have to unplug the cable at the hub or something. Yep, that stopped whatever was still trying to download

Later i'll have to see if there is some pause or something as I do a lot of gaming at night and it's terrible if I download at the same time

thanks for the fix!

Unplug restart

I noticed that when I unplugged for a restart, which I always do for an update, that my receiver only whirred for a couple of seconds, and them fell silent, it used to whir loudly for much longer. It just did the 3am reboot and the same thing happened.

L630 Bricked my 622

When I turned on my 622 last night, I had a 311-Hard Drive Failure screen come up. After a hard boot, it came back on and worked for a few minutes and then failed again (locked up). Same with a soft boot.

I called Dish, and actually got a sympathetic and genuinely nice CSR, who waived the shipping fee for the new receiver and offered "out of service credit" for the days we would be without the DVR. I tried to get an upgrade to a 722, but no-go on that. She also is shipping via "Saturday UPS," which will either get the new receiver here Sat (if they deliver on Sat) or Monday. Not too bad.

This will still be a major PITA, with all the reprogramming of favorites and timers to do, and right in the middle of the new TV season shows. Bottom line: If you don't have L630 yet, back up your recordings to your external hard drive if you have one!

That's because they changed the way the receivers reboot now.

extended boot (fan off on reset, forced boot recovery option via front panel)

The update was not what I was referring to but an actual show even after you leave that part of the receiver and go back to sat TV

I unplugged it and it stopped but when I plugged it back into the hub after a few seconds it started right back up. I just let it finish whatever the F it was doing

I'd only ever watch crap that's free as if I want to use my internet bandwidth to get a movie or show I know a better way than renting it on my DISH receiver.

An xbox and tversity already does this for me for free to some degree.

Is it just me or are the the graphics on the main Dish On Demand screen not loading properly? My 622 displays the 4 "Now Available" movies in plain black boxes with white text and they just don't look right.
