Land Line Phone Question

I've read on this site that you do not need a land line phone unless you want pay per view. However, someone told me that you need to have a land line phone when the installer comes to set up service. Something about the installer needs a land line to receive the initial downloads when setting you up? Is there any truth to needing a land line phone for any reason (other than PPV)? Thanks.

Simple answer, land line is not needed.

I don't have one and have never had one.

Yep, I had my install done yesterday without a phone line, hd-dvr and all is fine.

You can even order pay per view over the phone through a rep, over the phone automated, or on the internet (i think), however there are a charge for those.

The instaler will just disable your ability to order ppv with the remote
