I personally like the DVR tile/thumbnail display but clearly many other Hopper uses would prefer a list view. Now I'm curious to find how many people even care or have thought about this topic and which option Hopper users would prefer.

I really don't care about it. I like both but my my son really likes it. He is three and it's he finds it very easy to pick out the shows he likes just by seeing the tile. Works great.

Yeah I wouldn't want tile view replaced, it should just be an option, one or the other.

As I've said before, Scott mentioned that they would be making Hopper more "SD-friendly," but I'm not sure if that included list view or just the button enhancements in S230.

Matter of fact, here's the thread I made :-

For me, I prefer tiles if I have only a few items to pick from. But I prefer lists when there are lots of items. Instead of just a choice between tiles and lists, how about allowing users to set a threshold---use tiles when the number of items is less than the threshold and lists when there are more items than the threshold? For me, I would set the threshold at 15 or so. After I got my Hopper I started setting up favorite lists for family members on both the Hopper and the Joey. The tile interface drove me nuts. There were hundreds of tiles to work through! It took me forever. But for DVR recordings the tile interface is fine, since we typically only have about 10 tiles to navigate through.

Poll should have an option for "both." That being said, I voted for both :p .

I like the tiles. What blows is, the fact that when I have 80 shows recorded, I have to sit there and scroll ALL the way to the bottom to watch the oldest. I mean who da frack watches the newest stuff first? This is probably the main thing I miss about Directv, the simple ability to place the oldest programs FIRST.

It's also lovely, after I scroll down to #80, watch it, then delete it, I have to scroll all the way back down to #79 to start it. Dumb...

Sometimes I think the trolls that write software have never used the device they are writing it for.

Lol. Well at least Hopper can sort by episode #. 722 can't.

I love Tile view. I have an easier time finding the graphic/picture than the text, but LIST view should be an option for those who prefer or use on occasion for cleaning up, etc.

It's my simple minded opinion, as someone who has had a DVR since 2003, that certain features should be the basis of the design. Not, "ooops, we might add that one later" or "ooops, we can't add that simple feature because it doesnt work with bluetooth".

Directv does the same stupid crap, let's make sure it can actually function as a proper DVR before adding you tube. I mean god forbid we'd have a DVR that works like a DVR should.

So, after you kept thinking and kept typing, do you still like the tiles? ;)

Whether in a list or tile view, we need a much better folder/recording management system first. The current system is too crude when you're dealing with hundreds of recordings.

They gave us 2TB to store recordings, but not a great way to manage it. Once they fix that, i might start caring about list or tile view.

IMO, it's the biggest thing holding back the hopper right now.

So, what is your fix?
