Does DirecTV send the local channels down as Dolby when they are broadcasting that way? Last night for the football game it said it was in Dolby 5.1, but my HT didnt adjust to it. This is on an old UltimateTV receiver.

I switch over to HBO and it goes into 5.1, but that is about it.

I am going to test out a new HT on another TV/Receiver tonight to see if it is different.

Ive never seen either sat provider send a local in DD... actually the sat providers link tot he locals currently via analog thus eliminating DD anyway.

now OTA is a different story.

Shadow has it right:

The analog local channels do not reproduce Dolby Digital. Their "HD" or "digital" feeds do. Until the HD locals start being retransmitted by DirecTV, there will not be Dolby Digital feeds on local channels.

Well, that stinks. :D

What channels on DirecTV other than HBO are in 5.1?
