local channels volume levels

is it just me or are the volume levels for local channels are really low???

Is there anything that can be done besides cranking up the volume on the stereo receiver??

My setup:

RCA Recvr to HK AVR 230 via Optical audio.

reglar viewing channels normal levels at 35 or so when i go to locals i have to turn it way up to 25.

It is probably the upstream from the your local stations. Not really much you can do because D* can't make the signal any better than they get it.

Yes, there is something you can do if you use analog audio. I use the Terk VR-1 Volume Regulator and it works very well:

Direct has levels they set at the pickup point. I've seen them.

report it to D* as a local channel outage and they will look into it or u can try contacting the local station yourself and tell em to crank it up

I pick up the local digital channels in Los Angeles with an antenna. There is a big volume drop from the direct volume to the antenna volume. It is a pain to fiddle with the volume constantly.

I do have the same problem here (Phoenix AZ), however, that is very common with many digital stations. Shows that are in DD 5.1 always have the biggest dropout for me.
