Hello,

I had a question does anyone know what the spotbeams are in New England or in the New York area?? And what cities are on the spotbeams??

You have to be more specific than that. Which dmas are you talking about?

I can get 2 spotbeams where I am with Dish. I can get all of New England and some of New York like Albany, some of Syracuse, one spotbeam doesn't work. Utica, Binghamton. I didn't know If Direct had different locals on a spotbeam like Elmiria, Watertown, Buffalo, and if they had Philly just curious that's all.

All of the locals except for the big four out of NYC and LA are on spot beams. Check the satmaps link at the top of the page. The ones you are looking for may be there, but not all are.

DIRECTV Ka spot beams are many and relatively small (tightly focused). The Ku spots are more like DISH spots.

Are you asking about HD programming, SD programming or both?

Understand that different spot beams coming from different orbital slots are typically used for HD versus SD.

I don't understand. SD locals are on spot beams just like HD locals are.

True, but the SD spots are on the 101 satellite (Ku) and the HD are on either 99 or 103 (Ka).
