Hey guys, Its been a long time since i have tinkered with free to air and need some help finding some parts, etc for my MASSIVE free to air setup that will be covering over 4 free to air sats. I would like information or advice on a good sat pre amp and distribution amp, and a thing I remember that regulates the amplified single to become steady. Thanks for the help guys!

When you say "massive, covering 4 sats" do you mean 4 separate dishes, or one dish with a motor? Or one large dish with multiple LNB's?

Welcome to the site! Read everything you can in the FTA forum, good learning experiences in there.

It's very UNLIKELY that you will need a "pre-amp" or distribution amp. I can't remember ever needing one, and the one time I tried one, it made things much worse.

Unless you have coax cabling longer than 300~ feet or so, you don't need anything beyond maybe some switches to switch between lnb's.

Oh, and get some GOOD Rg-6 full copper (NOT copper clad) preferably quad-shielded coax. I buy 1,000ft reels at a time. That typically lasts me a year or two.

Thanks for the response, I am running my coax for over 300 feet and needs a preamp and distribution amp, I also have utilized Rg-6 throughout my property, thanks.

Then I would go RG-11 from dishes, to your houses wiring hub/distribution area. Then from the wiring hub, you can use RG-6. Much better plan.

Then you won't need any sort of pre-amp, or distribution amp. As I said above, I'm unaware of any that are really that good. There may be others that can advise you as to that. I'm sure when Brian of Titanium Satellite notices this thread, he'll chime in. It's the weekend, and he's likely out playing in the mountains, LOL.

For perspective, four dishes and four receivers is not really massive (especially if all dishes are Ku). Expensive maybe, but not a great big system.

I expect that to be truly MASSIVE, there would need to be movers, switching and at least a couple BUDs involved.
