I use an old Channel Master I picked up on fleabay for $80, had to replace the batteries and panel mount F connectors. It works great and it powers the lnb without a receiver.

Super Buddies are always great, but too pricy if this is just a hobby situation. You could try finding a used Sat Buddy. They are fairly inexpensive and very reliable. You could probably pick one up on craigslist.

Well, this meter is not cheap ($700), but I like to play with it and I use it often...

The SuperBuddy from Applied Instruments.

I bought this in order to align my WildBlue internet dish. It was really more of a toy for my hobby beyond that.

The best satellite meter by far would be a Coolsat 5000 receiver and a small LCD TV! You just cannot beat it. The price is right (especially nowadays) and it functions very well! Perfectly suited for satellite hunting and programmable by you!

I've picked a satellite but how to know which is?

Can I run a dish motor with my DishNetwork 501 or 522?
