What is the least commitment we are going to have to make?
Where is the best place to get the best deal on Dish?
Should we wait for a better deal, or is now the best time to switch?
Thanks everyone! Should I expect to pay for the DVR or is it included in the price? How much do they run? I have an HD TV and an old non HD that I want hooked up. Right now we have non-HD DirecTV on both. Is VOD extra?
Note.. the 722k has two tuners both HD, the *outputs* are HD for TV1 (1 HDMI, 1 Component, and 1 SD Composite output sets), and SD for TV2, with the SD being available as standard coax cable out and RCA V/L+R out (composite out). You would only need one DVR because it has two tuners (1 HD and 1 SD) And Finally, VOD does cost extra ($6.99 for HD rental)
And lastly ... with the 722k, it is one of the receivers capable of supporting the SlingAdapter (99 dollars on dish's site) with it, in working order, you get an option to watch anything on your 722k anywhere you have high speed internet. It works sufficiently that 99 isn't a bad upgrade option. The 99 dollars is currently a one time fee, the adapter takes over "TV2" when in use, and there is currently no per monthly cost to using Dish's apps for the slingadapter (SlingAdapter as opposed to a full utility Sling Box, whis is a one time purchase, but currently requires a monthly fee to maintain web access for them, again the full SlingBox not SlingAdapter)
No ... you understood me the first time.. Its me that's mistaken.. its not a monthly fee with Sling Box ... but that you have to buy their mobile apps ... sorry about that confusion.. and maybe they will make them free too some day.. but an add on fee for stand alone apps. You are mistaken on one thing here. The stand alone slingbox does NOT require a monthy fee to maintain web access. I have had one hooked up to my D* box for some time, and there is no fee associated with it aside from the upfront cost of the box.
If I misuderstood what you were saying I apologize.

Edit: I can't go up and correct my previous post, would if I could.

No biggie. Glad we got it straightened out.
Yeah.. that's probably the way it will go free apps/free Dishplayer app integration/replacing sling's apps... since Dish (Echostar) owns Sling now.. The problem I have ... is wondering if Dish's slow to respond (or even acknowledge problems) pacing will deteriorate the Sling brand. You can download the dish remote access app and it has the slingplayer built into it. An the price is free.
