Sorry to hear that AVS LA is useless. The San Francisco thread has numerous very, very knowledgeable members from more than just SF.
Being a teeny weeny station might be a good reason to get a very directional antenna if he doesn't already have one. (IMHO)

I've found the smartest most knowledgeable people regarding RF are at the TiVo Forum and this forum. Maybe because this forum is so focused and RF is a big part of satellite, and with a lot of TiVo folks who also use OTA, they too have RF still a big part of using a TiVo, especially with the new "cord cutters" joining the TiVo forum of late has brought OTA RF much closer to the forefront than before with cable and FiOS still the majority or users and posters. Now, AVS does excel at all sorts of devices NOT cable or sat, and audio/high fidelity in general. Every forum has its own weaknesses and strengths. They is a LOT of great info and knowledgeable people at AVS, but not so much on this topic.
