You might have noticed we were closed this morning...

I was busy making a lot of the changes that you the members have requested and have also done a software upgrade to our server software which enables file cacheing again which helps us deliver SatelliteGuys to you as fast as possible. :)

I am proud to announce that HIGH DEFINITION IS NOW MAINSTREAM!

This means we have eliminated the HD forums in the Dish Network and DirecTV forum! The decision to do this was based on your feedback and also due to the fact that all the HD news and information always ended up in the main forum instead of the HD forum anyways. This change will allow for you to find the information your looking for easer!

Also based on your feedback we are proud to announce two new forums.

What's Cooking is a place to discuss Food. Nothing goes better with Satellite and Home Theater then some good food and snacks, here you can talk with other SatelliteGuys members about your favorite food, recipes and cooking technology!

Good Ole Days in the Sports section we have added a new forum for our satellite sports fans to talk about the Good Ole Day's of Sports!

You might have also noticed that SatelliteGuys finally has a single place where all our site rules are posted. The rules are basically the same rules we have always had but this is the first time they have been posted to one place!

We strive to make SatelliteGuys better for you! We hope you enjoy these changes!

Since the forum headers haven't changed (yet ?) in the Dish forum, what's the criteria for a "technical" post ?

By the way, there's quite a few sticky threads in the main Dish forum. I've always said, if a thread is news-worthy enough, it will remain at the top or close to the top on it's own. That is, enough people will post in it to keep it up there. The threads about Dish's 1080p plans, HD upgrade, reaching 100 HD channels, and so on are "time-sensitive". They'll remain active for a while after creating the threads but then taper off...

The "Thanks" feature was actually eating up a lot of CPU, when I turned it off the load went down by 25%. And that's why it is currently off. :)

I think I pointed out shortcomings of the feature as soon as I noticed it.... It's not a terrible idea, just half-implemented, IMO.

With the re-arranging of the forums, does vB allow this view, SatelliteGuys.US - Powered by vBulletin, to be custom-arranged by the user ? I have to scroll down past 15+ forums to get to the Dish forum, which I'm most interested in. I've already hidden or turned off a number of forums that I have no interest in to help. Since this is a *satellite* news site, shouldn't the various satellite provider's forums appear before the "Hometown" and Pub forums ?

That would be nice, I hate having to scroll past almost everything to get to Satellite stuff, which is the reason I come here.
In one respect, that is where DBSTalk is better than here, their satellite stuff is at the top.
