Here & Now
The front TV in our RV's digital picture has dark shadows in some scenes. Is this an antenna problem or a problem with the set. The bedroom TV's picture is fine. Help!!

It's not an antenna problem. Is it an LCD? That may just be the nature of the beast, as a lot of cheap sets have trouble with shadows. If you can't dial it out adjusting the brightness and contrast, your only option is to replace it with a name brand tv of more cost.

Is it old? The CRT may be weak or going bad. Same core answers; try tweaking the picture controls, but it's not an antenna problem. I use the THX optimizer on my Disney's Cars DVD to get the picture close to correct, and then I usually wind up bumping the brightness control to keep it watchable.

Tried tuning pic controls. That just throws off color. Shadows only seem to show on peoples faces. TV sould not be too old, as RV in '08 model. Picture is fine when using park cable and analog tuner.

Well, I'm guessing now, but it may be the digital tuner not putting out a broad enough range of "black." If the analog tuner is fine, and the screen is fine when using it, it has to be the digital tuner. Are you using a converter box, or is the ATSC tuner built into the set?

TV has internal digital tuner. Coax runs from antenna to input. TV also has two antenna inputs. One analog and one digital, a splitter divides the coax to the two inputs.
