Well.... (I know a deep subject for a shallow mind), it seems that Managed copies are coming to blu-ray. I've been hearing murmers for a while, but haven't looked too far into it. Seems to be a day late and a dollar short.

1. Will require new hardware (we all knew that)

2. No way to enable managed copies for discs already owned.

3. No requirement for new hardware to support it.

4. Only required to allow 1 backup (with DRM). But that doesn't have to be free.

5. Oh yeah, no Apple support at this time.

Could. Difference between the two is digital copy is SD. Managed Copy is full resolution.

After BD won (and digital copy was introduced), I thought managed copy was dead.
Also, Doherty (the MS guy in AACS LA) repeated more than once on AVS that AACS
will not be finalized until the exploits (e.g. SlySoft & Co.) "will be addressed and dealt with".

Considering that only a studio exec can at this point believe that this genie can be put back into the bottle,
i.e. BD discs secured, a managed copy is useless for the consumer and a hassle for the studio.

But something happened in the back rooms.
Maybe Kaliedescape-like lobby applied enough pressure.
Or studios realized it doesn't make sense to lock the window when the door is wide open.

Or maybe some restrictions in PC playback are coming.

Time will tell.

Yes. At least that's what the claim is.

Same what AnyDVD HD does but wrapped into another DRM envelope and with some playback restrictions.
