Is a mechanical polarizer only used with an analog receiver.I have a
Manhattan Plaza ST 550 CIP-IR PVR Ready Receiver with 300 gig hardrive. It can controll polorizer and skew.I can loop out to the analog receiver since the manhattan can move an accuator.

The "mechanical polarizer" is found on most (if not all) analog receivers. Only Manhattan and Pansat DVB receivers have this ability (that I know of). And, only the Manhattan DVB receivers can control an actuator, along with most (if not all) analog receivers. There may be some others out there, that I'm not aware of, or have forgotten about. But, I think not?

A mechanical polarizer is not specific to an analog or a FTA receiver. It just depends on the type of LNB you're using. Whatever receiver you have must be able to control the polarity based on your LNB type. An LNBF uses control voltages (13 volts or 18 volts) to change polarities. An LNB uses the mechanical polarizer on the back of the feedhorn to change polarities. Have fun.
