Mercury II from Fortec Star

I have a Mercury II from Fortec Star. When I powered it up a black box appeared on the screen and will not drop off. It almost totally covers the screen. Volume works but picture is blocked. Any help with this would be appreciated.

That sounds like what happens when a TV is in Text (Closed Caption) mode...

I remember seeing that on older receivers too. There should be a menu option to turn off the closed captioning

Look in the menu for the TELETEXT option. If TELETEXT is ON, a black box will cover 80%+ of the screen.

Whether you get it fixed or not, consider a more modern receiver that isn't so limited. You are losing out on over 1/2 of the programming you could receive.

Agreed. It's a whole new FTA world with the MicroHD.
