Miguel Cabrera faces DUI charge

"HE took a swig from a bottle of scotch in front of a deputy"

As the late George Steinbrenner once said on Letterman, " Well, I tell ya gang, you know, they're not all mental giants. "

That was totally stupid if he did that in front of an officer.

I was floored this morning when I heard this as it was breaking news in our area, not only does this give a big question mark to the Tigers season, but it looks like he has many other isses to deal with. He had a great year last year off the field. Many in the media saw a more open, down to earth player who enjoyed talking. Reading the report makes me a bit ill as a fan...hopefully he can get the help he needs. As far as the Tigers season...humm Victor martinez might be our first basemen for the time being

 It happened last night....

Ah...he DID play down here for a few years and was known to 'sauce it up good' on South Beach and in Venezuela. They really liked the kid and that kinda stuff was kept pretty hush-hush. But folks in the media down here that would hit the night life would see him all the time.

This unfortunately was long rumored down here. But I think the media down here did a good job in keeping it under wraps.
Yeah we knew about his drinking issues when he played for the marlins. Explained his weight gain. Its a shame he's still battling with this issue.he can deny all he wants but he's definitely an alcoholic

Yes he had an issue here two season ago, where during one of the last series of the seasons he went drinking with white sox players, went home get into some trouble was picked picked up in the morning by the Tigers GM and then played and looked horrible last during the series. He got alot of kudos last season not only with his play on the field but his actions off the field, and while you get judge much from a mug shot...he sure had a smile on him

Holy smokes the media down there really DID keep this under wraps for a long time...even the POLICE didn't know they were going to pull him over last night!

Up North, we were led to believe that after the last time, he was rehabbing and had given up drinking ...........

Now you guys down south say he's been boozing it up all along ?
Or are you all refering to before the incident in "09 ?

I think you know me better than that to be asking me such a question. Anyone who followed this guys career from the start knows this has been an issue for him.and no I wouldn't dare make such a comment because a guy goes to a bar in south beach. I don't talk out of my ass. His recent DUI just keeps adding to the pile.He needs help PERIOD. the signs have been there all along for all to see.

Before 09 Jim

Before 09 Jim

Now see, I had NO idea he had issue before '09 ...

I don't think it was ever mentioned when the Tigers pursued him either.
I'm sure the Tigers themselves knew, particularly with the weight issues, I do remember them being mentioned.

From what I read earlier, they don't expect him to miss any playing time ... (regular season I would guess).
I'm not sure how this would happen, but thats not my field of expertise either.

The Tigers definitely NEED a sober Cabrera, or they can just SKIP the 2011 season.
