MLB 2010 Season

Their offense does not come closing to matching the Yanks, but their defense is probably the best in baseball. Two GG CF in the outfield, and 3 GG infielders.

Their starting pitching 1 through 2 are not as good as the Yanks, but their starting pitching 1 through 5 is much better than the Yanks.
It's obvious that this roster is structured for postseason play. The issue is: Are they good enough to make the postseason??

I disagree that Boston's 1-2 starters are not as good as the Yanks', I think they are at least even. But being good 1-5 at starting pitching is not necessarily important come playoff time, especially as currently constructed with so many off days between playoff games. 2-3 good starting pitchers can carry you.

Being strong 1-5 is a huge regular season advantage, however, when the 5 sometimes pitches almost as much as the 1.

Being reported Carlos Beltran had surgery yesterday and is out 8-12 weeks. Will quite possibly miss opening day. Also being reported surgery was performed by Beltran's personal doctor, and the Mets had no knowledge beforehand.

It is almost shocking how a major league sports team can have so many injury/doctor issues these days.

You'll get no argument from me. The Yankees have a huge edge offensively in the infield (especially the left side).

Their starting pitching 1 through 2 are not as good as the Yanks

That's definitely debatable. I think Sabathia is the best starter on EITHER staff, but Burnett over Lester or Beckett (or even Lackey if you consider him #2) is a matter of opinion.

but their starting pitching 1 through 5 is much better than the Yanks.

IMO, the Sox starting rotation is the best in all of baseball (especially when you have Tim Wakefield as your emergency starter).

On a side note: IMO, the Mariners now have best 1-2 punch in the game........King Felix and Cliff Lee.

FINALLY, the Marlins came to their sense and signed the ace and probably one of the top right handed pitchers in the National League, Josh Johnson through the end of 2013. So now, they main two player Hanley(through 2015) and Johnson are signed through atleast 2012 to open the new stadium.

If the season started next week though the Marlins would have a outstanding line-up that would look like this:

Startting line-up:
C-John Baker/Ronny Paulino
1B-Gabby Sanchez
2B-Dan Uggla
SS-Hanley Ramirez
3B-Jorge Cantu
LF-Chris Coghlan
CF-Cameron Maybin
RF-Cody Ross

Pitching Rotation:
Josh Johnson R
Ricky Nolasco R
Anibal Sanchez R
Sean West L
Chris Volstad R

Bullpen:
Leo Nuñez (CL) R
Matt Lindstrom R
Renyel Pinto L
Burke Badenhop R
Dan Meyer L
Brian Sanches R
Andrew Miller L

The Marlins desperately need some power in their hitting lineup. The will need some bench help, though they had one of the better pinch hitting benches in all of the majors last year. The pitching, if healthy is very solid...especially their starting rotation which just as strong as almost anyone's in the National League.

The Reds starting pitching line-up looks good. Won't know how Chapman will do til Spring Training starts, but it gives hope for this year.

Starting Pitching Potential Line-up

1. Aaron Harang
2. Bronson Aroyo
3. Homer Bailey
4. Johnny Cueto
5. Aroldis Chapman/Edison Volquez(May not pitch all year after TJ surgery)

I agree that lineup has potential to make some noise, but the real question is, how many of them will still be around in August? ;)

Sandra

That line-up is so-so. It DESPERATELY needs some power. Uggla is more than likely to be traded for a closer. The rumor is the Giants Brian Wilson. There was heavy rumors of a package deal with another reliever for a hitter with homer power. The wanna move Coughlan to his natural position of 2b and improve the infield defense.

This team has been in the hunt till ATLEAST late August early September.....and with this pitching staff, I expect the same. They have not had a garage sale in a while.

Boy I guess companies want to be the sponsor of anything now ;)

The MN Twins Radio Network is now the "Treasure Island Baseball Network". Treasure Island Casino is a casino about a 1/2 hour from Minneapolis

Twins schedule is out and sadly the home opener isnt on local OTA TV
For the past few years it has...guess FSN North grabbed it :(

You figure the brand new stadium the Twins would want it on local OTA TV...the rest of the market can see it on FSN North but for the folks in the cities who are OTA only they cant see it :(

You would figure ALL the teams would wanna do this hype up the interest for the local teams.

I USE to work for Chicago Sportschannel in the 90s and the former Blackhawks owner Dick Wirtz did no put ANY...NONE...ZERO....ZILCH home games on TV. He use to say that "if they are at home and televised, why would they wanna come to the stadium?!"

I know some teams are cable only but the ones who have OTA affiliates should put the home opener on OTA

I read about that...

But in the case of the home opener this year its already sold out so you can't get in anyways :)

I wish Dish Network would get the hint from people to get MLBTV and MLB Extra Innings

this will be the 2nd or 3rd year with out MLB Extra Innings

Dish is the only TV or Dish company with out these 2 items
