The Washington Senators...uh, I mean, the Washington Nationals...drew a "crowd" of just 16,245 to see Chapter 3, Episode 3 of The Book of Strasmas.

Chapter 1, Episode 3 :40,325
Chapter 2, Episode 3: 33,247
Chapter 3, Episode 3: 16,245, and on a summer-like 80 degree evening, to boot!

Hmm...maybe Montreal can support a major league team.

Melancon's earned run average in four relief appearances is 49.5. His best outing was when he gave up one home run in a one inning appearance.

How in hell can a team spend $190,000,000 in payroll yet wind up with no-name players in right field, at shortstop and catcher, has-beens in left and at third, and have no back end of a bullpen? Now, I'm not talking about any particular team. it is just a hypothetical question. I am wondering if it is even possible to spend that kind of money yet wind up with a team like that.

Add in a overrated first baseman and I can certainly imagine that team.

How many years before the novelty of the new stadium wears off and Miami goes back to acting like a market where the majority of adults have no historic ties to the professional sports franchises there and go back to ignoring their baseball team?

personally, I think this stadium and this team will finally get the crowds.

Today, a 12:30 pm game in the middle of the week drew 24,000 while people were working and kids in school.... Against a crappy Cubs team.

Sunk costs like this don't help....

John Lackey - $15.9M
Dice-K - $10.3M
Bobby Jenks - $6M

I remember back when the Dallas Cowboys were at the peak of their popularity, there would be games in which not one single ticket was unused. When the Miami Dolphins sell out, how many unused tickets are there... ten thousand? They sell seasons tickets to people who retired in Florida and buy their season tickets so they can see their own "home team" play Miami, and then try to find people to give the other seven games tickets to.

How many, I do not know, but when the Dolphins had a decent product, they WOULD sell out.

As far as who they sell "season tickets" to...obvious that you have not come down to Miami in a while.

Not only is Texas winning and beating good teams, they are spanking them.

That team is something else. What team can lose 2 pitchers as good as Lee AND Wilson and still be one of the better teams in not only the AL but all of MLB.
