Since no one else has mentioned it so far, Verizon is in the process of rolling out MLB HD. So far, from what I've read, 7 markets have gotten it: TX, CA, NY, Washington Metro Area, NNJ, RI, and MA. Looks to be a pretty aggressive roll-out (just started 2 days ago).

I read something about it being only available in Rhode Island yesterday. Anyway, it has indeed been added to my local lineup. FiOS HD only keeps getting better and better and better. Thanks!

I've been receiving the Standard-Definition MLB channel from the start, so why is the HiDef version now available only to those who subscribe to the additional Sports package of channels? I'm one of the original Premier lineup subscribers (since December 2006) and have received every HiDef channel that's been added since then --until now.

I've read cases where folks in the NY/NNJ area have been having this issue. I believe you should be getting it. Contact Verizon.

To grydlock, the reason you automatically get it is because there is no sports package anymore for folks outside NY/NNJ. The sports channels have been added to the HD Extreme package. Even so, I believe folks who are grandfathered into the old Premier package are supposed to be getting it. For those in NY/NNJ, though, I've heard of a couple cases where people weren't getting the channel when they're supposed to. Call Verizon.

There used to be a sports pack with FiOS. Outside of the NY/NNJ area they've done away with it. Outside those areas the channels that used to be part of the sports pack (e.g. those in the low 300's) have been rolled into the HD Extreme package. So, if you have the Extreme pack you now have all the channels that used to be part of the sports pack.

In the NY/NNJ area, Verizon created a different pricing structure, so they can grab more subscribers in the NYC area. But, because they get better pricing on stuff, Verizon maintained the sports package for those areas. So, if you're in NNJ and you want Blackbelt TV, e.g., you need to get the sports pack. Outside those areas, if you sign up for the Extreme HD package, you get all those channels anyway.

As for your question of getting RSNs from around the country - no Verizon doesn't offer that. Most cable companies don't (I don't know of a provider outside DirecTV, and maybe Dish - although I'm not familiar with their channel packages - that does).

Thanks for the info. I have the HD Extreme package already and do get those channels. I was really looking for a way to get out of area RSN's and mostly for the Spring training period. But that's alright, we have so much other stuff recorded now I'll never run out.
