FYI... I just got this in my Inbox.

As part of the 61.5 HD core migration, effective June 1, 2011, the below HD core channels were moved to a temporary virtual location in an effort to encourage customers to call in and schedule a free migration upgrade. The virtual channels will be removed on 6/29/11; customers must schedule a migration upgrade to ensure they can continue to see their favorite HD channels.

Those channels are TOON, USA, CNN, TBS, TLC, DISC, HIST, HGTV, TRV & LIFE.

We got the same information earlier today. I'm sure a couple threads will pop up about it (looks like one already popped up).

If anyone needs a migration setup, they can PM me

Yup... so if your NOT seeing those channels, then check in the 4000's range and you should find them... and then you should call DISH for a free DISH upgrade.

I have the Top 200 w/HD, and lost those channels today, and called them this evening. They first told me I had 129 so it shouldn't be an issue (I don't, no line of sight without mounting dish on the roof 2-story) Then I was told if I didn't have line of sight for 129 that there was nothing they could do for me.
I have a wing dish pointed at 61.5 for my HD, and another dish 500 for 110/119.

Finally they decided they could indeed send a tech out to repoint my 61.5 to 77/72.3? (coming in the morning, nice)

Does this sound right, hope I have line of sight for the repointing?,

If I remember right last time when the tech came out to fix my dish that got knocked out by my lawn guys, we discussed Eastern Arc, and that they would have to move the 61.5 dish to get eastern arc line of sight?

It does sound right. We're trying to eliminate the "mixed arc" setups, and depending on your area you should be installed with a full Eastern Arc (61.5/72.7/77) or Western Arc (110/119/129)

If you want me to take a look at your account, feel free to send me a PM with your phone number or account number.

I appreciate Matt for helping me out. However, before I messaged him I was doing a chat online and they had no idea why I lost channels. Were customers notified of this and I didn't see the message? If it wasn't for this site I would have had no idea where my channels went. If they want people to migrate why not tell us.

I know they send literature out sometimes (people have reported getting the migration letters). The chat agent should have known what was going on (sorry that you had to take your time to call me). Your account was tagged properly, and we have the information on our update page.

Got the letter in the mail a few weeks ago. Called and set up an apt for first thing in morning. They came out and switched me from 61.5 to 129 with no problems. The tech was there first thing in the morning and was done within less than 30 minutes. All went smooth and getting the channels i should. Sure wish everything went that good!

Hi all,

I'm one of those beloved "mixed arc" people. A year ago I was having occasional signal loss from 61.5, so I had a tech come out. He told me then that this mixed Arc is probably going away and I need to go to eastern or western arc. Being in Kalamazoo, Michigan I can use either arc. So he walked around my yard for 30 minutes, said he couldn't get all three sats on either arc. He even couldn't find a better spot for 61.5! My dishes are a bit apart on the garage roof, was told both are barely getting by the trees. I live in a neighborhood with LARGE maple trees all around me. He put down a "No line of sight" on the work order, I didn't have to pay for the service call and he pretty much told me that once losing signal off 61.5 got really bad, I'd probably need to cancel.

I think that's what it boils down to, I'm in a difficult spot. My neighbor fixed his mixed arc setup by doing a pole mount in the corner of his yard at the fence line, shooting through the hole in the skyline I created when I removed the dying large maple trees. So at least he's good! If I put my dishes over there it would be one VERY long run to the house, probably too far and I'm not sure if Dish would consider that a "free" install.

So my question is, is Dish doing this channel move just for a few days then putting it back or is it time to call and cancel? I love Dish! Don't want to call the cable company, blah. Pretty sure I can't get DirecTV given I can't pick up 3 sats, let alone 5.

Anybody have any idea when Dish will get use of the other 8 TPs at 72.7 W? Something more definitive than "soon" would be useful.

I know you're trying to avoid mixed arc, but I do appreciate Dish working with me because of LOS issues. I have 110/119 from my front porch and 61.5 and 72.7 from 2 different locations on my garage roof in back, 70 feet from my house. There are no other options without taking down a large pine tree (some excellent techs and supervisors tried), and I can't see 77 from anywhere on my property (ZIP 07860, NW NJ).

I would PM one of the DIRT people here and get another tech out there. Sounds like you had someone that didn't take the time to go up to roof and look to see if you could actually see thru the trees to get 72.7 in addition to 61.5. It's hard to believe that if you can get 61.5 that you have a tree that is blocking 72.7. It is possible but I think unlikely that that is true.
