More info on NFL RedZone on Dish

If Dish was smart (marketing wise) they would give it free to all subscribers the first week of the season. If it is as good as folks say it is then a lot of susbscribers will subscribe to the multisport package and some may upgrade their standard package to Silver.

If they did that I could imagine a lot of bitching here at SatelliteGuys for Week Two that Dish Network is pulling a bait and switch for giving it away one week then charging for it the next week.

I'm not sure what is so confusing to everyone here. If you want the channel, you need to get the top 200 and add the multi sports package. If you want it in HD then pay $10 for the HD channels. It's pretty simple

I think it is placed in the right spot. Basically, if you have NFL Network it is only going to cost $6 more per month during football season to get this channel. If this incarnation is anything like the D* version it is going to be worth it. Just think of how many posts we see that say "I gotta have Sunday Ticket just to get the Redzone channel." Well, ST runs nearly $400 full price with HD so I would say that a hair under $24 total for the season is a good deal.

A hair under $24, plus the $5 to downgrade after the season's over, right?

I agree. Plus, getting RSNs like Big Ten that show a lot of College FB in HD is an added bonus!!

NFL Network will launch new 'NFL RedZone' channel this season

i have the following Classic Gold 250 HD & Platinum, Fox Sports Pittsburgh, Multi Sport Package, Big Ten Network. will i get it with this package?

Why would this be any different than a free week of HBO or Starz? When the week is up, they simply pull the switch and subs who want the channel order it.

D* gives free preview week of Sunday Ticket for the first week every year, not to mention the free week that E* and D* do with NBA and NHL packages at the beginning of every season. This is definitely interesting. If it as good as the ST Red Zone Channel, E* has made a GREAT move. It still isn't quite for me as I would like to watch the full Packers game with no interruptions, but I can see the appeal, especially since its $400 cheaper.

Can Absolute customers add the Multi Sports package and get it then?
Great question, and one I'm wondering about as well. I logged into the dish site and it will allow me to add the multi-sport package, and we obviously already get HD, so I'd like to try it.

I've been able to add and subtract other packaged channels without incurring a removal fee, and without loosing the Absolute HD package.

If anyone knows, or finds out after trial - please update us. I doubt we'll just get it anyway - but wouldn't that be nice if is just shows up for Absolute sub's - since they've been toughing it out with this mysterious package for so long...:D

when I try to add the multi-sports pack to my Absolute Subscription I get

You must subscribe to DishHD Silver, Classic Gold 250, DISH LATINO MAX-ENG/SPAN, TURBOHD SILVER, Classic Bronze 100 PLUS, TURBOHD GOLD, DISH Latino Dos w/o Playboy Espanol, Classic Silver 200, DishLATINO Max, DishHD Gold, ANNUAL DISH LATINO DOS, Annual Classic Bronze 100 Plus, DishLATINO Dos to add MULTI SPORT

Lame. Why even tempt us if it can't be added like it appears? It's funny that we can add anything else in that section except Multi sport.

Maybe a friendly online chat could produce the desired results. Anyone want to try it?

EDIT - Tech support online wouldn't budge.

Already tried, same response. Unless something out of the blue comes, there's no chance of being able to stay an Absolute Customer and watch the Red Zone Channel. I was willing to pay 5.99/month cause I would love this channel, but I will not give up Absolute.

Great news! We are launching NFL Network’s new channel NFL RedZone on DISH Network! NFL RedZone will be available on September 13, 2009 on NFL’s opening day. NFL RedZone, produced by NFL Network, visits NFL games across the nation to bring customers the most exciting action as it happens. When a team goes inside the 20-yard line, known as the “red zone,” fans see the crucial plays as they happen. The channel keeps fans up-to-date in real time, switching from game to game with live look-ins, highlights and a chance to see every important play. For more information on NFL RedZone, visit NFL.com - Official Site of the National Football League.

NFL RedZone will be available within the Classic Silver 200 ($52.99/mo. with locals where available) WITH a subscription to the add-on package, Multi-Sport Package, which is $5.99/mo. Customers may also receive NFL RedZone in HD with a subscription to the HD add-on package. In order to receive HD local network programming, qualifying customers must also have a ViP®-series/MPEG-4 receiver and an applicable antenna pointed to either the 129° or 61.5° orbital location.

The Channel will air on Channel 155.

The SD Version of the RedZone channel will come from 110 / 72.7
The HD Version of the RedZone channel will come from 61.5 / 129

Ok..In plain English ...Notwithstaning one's level of programming (Silver/Gold or HD versions of the same) one MUST purchase the multi sport pack or they will NOT receive the Red Zone Channel, correct?

Do you get NFL Network in that package? If yes then you should get RedZone when you add the multisports package.
